A 30+ year Information and Communications Technology (ICT) veteran based in Alberta Doug Leece has supported numerous oil and gas clients over the years and began tackling cyber challenges before Y2K when security was just part of system administrator. A project assignment to build a security operations center for monitoring a new Voice over IP product in 2005 resulted in the permanent move to full time cyber security architecture, penetration testing, forensics and incident response for numerous clients. As the Technical Manager Detection & Design for Enbridge, supporting cyber security and digital visibility for industrial control systems is the primary mission. That said, the nature of modern business means detection and response must also cover cloud,custom applications, traditional attack vectors like email as well as developing skilled staff and processes to support a 7X24 operation. Doug is also a founding member of the Calgary BSides annual cyber security conference, primary builder of each year’s CTF challenge contest, a member of several cyber security associations including ISA, ISC2, ISACA, SANS and Open FAIR and cohosts a monthly risk management podcast which often features ICS experts.
