2019 Speakers

Iwan van Beurden is the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Product Development at exida. He is responsible for the development, maintenance, and certification of the exSILentia® software. Mr. van Beurden supports exida’s end-user services, manufacturer services, and certification activities and has over 20 years of professional experience in the Functional Safety field. He performs IEC 61508 development process evaluations and Functional Safety Assessments. In addition, he supports industry specific safety lifecycle tasks, including the process, machinery, nuclear, and automotive industries. These tasks range from Process Hazard Analysis, Layer of Protection Analysis, SIL Selections, and SIL Verifications, to proof test specification and operational event recording as well as ASIL assessments. Mr. van Beurden is the Director of the ISA Safety and Cybersecurity Division and is an ISA Fellow. He teaches both exida and ISA courses. Mr. van Beurden is a member of the IEC 61511 maintenance team representing the USA. Mr. van Beurden is a Certified Functional Safety Expert and holds a Master of Science degree from Eindhoven University of Technology in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where he majored in reliability engineering and graduated cum laude.
